Bringing Solar Street Lights A Ray Of Light To Remote Areas In Hailakandi District

Hailakandi: Solar street lights have been installed in remote and far-flung villages under South Hailakandi Development Block in Hailakandi district.

Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli inaugurated 35 numbers of solar street lights at Gutguti on Monday. Solar street lights have been also installed at Bagcherra. “ONGC sponsored solar street lights connection in the villages brings a new ray of light and hope for the people, “ said Jalli.

The installation of solar street lights have been taken up by the ONGC in association with the district administration under Phase 1 of its CSR initiative for aspirational district Hailakandi. Under Phase 1, 118 solar street lights were sanctioned by ONGC under its CSR initiative for the aspirational district - 35 for Gutguti, 30 for Riflemara, 30 for Bagcherra and 23 for Dhamcherra villages.

“These remote villages under South Hailakandi block do not have access to conventional electricity supply,” said Assistant Commissioner and BDO, South Hailakandi, Parikshit Phukan.

Deputy Commissioner Jalli accompanied by Assistant Commissioner, DFO, DEEO, Inspector of Schools, DPM, SSA, Engineer SSA, DPM, NHM, JE PHE, AE PHE, LDM, Asst Manager AGVB Jamira, AGM RE and CSC visited remote Gutguti on Monday to find pragmatic solutions for ushering in development. Since she took over in January this year, Jalli has been focusing on bringing the backward areas particularly under the South Hailakandi Development Block to the path of development. Her first step to take the administration to a remote place in South Hailakandi Development Block where she reviewed the progress of developmental projects and welfare oriented schemes with district heads earned encomiums from the general public.
