Orientation programme for Haj pilgrims begins

Hailakandi, June 30: The orientation training programme for Haj pilgrims began in Hailakandi district on Saturday. Inaugurating the two-day training programme at Nazrul Sadan auditorium here, District Development Commissioner FR Laskar urged the Haj pilgrims to perform their rituals in Mecca and Medina with calm composure and serenity to avoid any hassle during the pilgrimage. Extending his greetings and best wishes, Laskar requested the pilgrims to pray for peace, progress and prosperity of Assam, the nation and the whole world.

Addressing the congregation, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Member Secretary, District Haj Committee, Amalendu Roy disclosed that 281 selected pilgrims - 233 males and 48 females - would perform Haj from Hailakandi district this year. Executive Member, State Haj Committee, Abdul Hannan Tapadar spoke on the logistic arrangements and rituals associated with Haj. He wished the pilgrims safe journey and smooth performance of Haj rituals. MLAs Anwar Hussain Laskar and Nizamuddin Choudhury were present on the occasion. “The training has a twin purpose for us in which we focus on logistics support and rituals. We prepare our pilgrims for every situation, whether it is the temperature, food or communication barriers,” said Joint Secretary, District Haj Committee and master trainer, Abul Hussain Mazarbhuiyan.

Medical camps are being conducted by Joint Director, Health Services for administrating vaccines to the selected pilgrims on July 1 and July 2. Four master trainers are conducting the training programmes for the selected pilgrims.
