GUWAHATI: After its introduction along many routes in the rest of the country, the people of the Northeast is looking will soon have a state-of-the-art Vande Bharat train to ride on.

The official announcement has finally made that the first Vande Bharat train of Northeast is going to be operational from May 14 next.

Officials of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) disclosed that on May 14, the first Vande Bharat train in the NE will formally operate between Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri.

The train is scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

However, it is not clear as yet whether Modi will come to Guwahati for the inauguration or do it virtually from Delhi.

On that particular day, preparations have been made for four to five other railway projects for the Northeast including Assam to be inaugurated and foundation stone laid.

The list of stations at which Vande Bharat will stop between Guwahati to NJP is expected to be disclosed soon.

On the other hand, IRCTC & NF Railway will operate its first Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train from Dibrugarh on May 27, 2023.

This was stated in a press release issued by NF Railway.

It will cover popular religious tourist circuit, covering Shree Mata Vaishnodevi, Ayodhya, Prayagraj and Varanasi.

Passengers can get on and off the train in stations at Dibrugarh, Simaluguri, Mariani, Dimapur, Lumding, Guwahati, Rangiya, New Bongaigaon, New Coochbehar, New Jalpaiguri, Katihar, Barauni Jn, Hajipur and Sonpur.

The train comprises of eight LHB Sleeper Coaches and three AC 3-Tier coaches with a pantry car.

Spanning over 10 nights and 11 days, the first stop of this train will be at Katra where tourists will visit Mata Vaishnodevi Temple.

This train will further depart for Ayodhya where tourist will visit Ram Janma Bhoomi, Hanumangarhi followed by Aarati at Sarayu River.

The next destination to follow is Prayagraj where tourist will visit the sacred place Triveni Sangam and Alopi Devi Temple.

The next halt for the tourist train will be at Varanasi where tourist will visit Ganga Aarti and Kashi Vishwanath Temple besides other pilgrimage places.
