Indian Army rescued 111 civilians stranded in snow at 14000 feet in Arunachal Pradesh

ARUNACHAL PRADESH: Indian Army at Se La in Arunachal Pradesh rescued 111 civilians & 70 vehicles stranded in snow at 14000 feet in sub zero temperature.

The operation began on the night of 29 February and lasted until March 1.

The Eastern Command, Indian Army tweeted out the pictures.

Those rescued thanked the Army profusely for saving their lives.

The Indian Army has always come to the rescue of citizens in distress.

In February this year, two Indian Army jawans rescued a woman from drowning in a river in lower Assam’s Barpeta district. On being informed that a woman had jumped into the river from a bridge near the Patbausi village in Barpeta district, Subedar Ram and Havildar Ashok Bhakar of the Jat Regiment rushed to the spot. Without wasting any time they jumped into the river and within a short period rescued the woman who was struggling for life.

In another incident, an army vehicle passing by an accident spot at Dhupdhara Kothakuthi in Goalpara district, immediately came forward for the first rescue operation which saved the lives of many passengers.

In July 2019, a highly trained and well equipped Flood relief column of the Indian Army was mobilized and arrived at the Balitara Village in Nalbari District to undertake a massive humanitarian aid and disaster relief operation as incessant heavy downpour in the Nalbari district resulted in the breach of embankments of Pagladiya River.

Operating under a heavy downpour, dangerous currents and alarming water levels in addition to the pitch dark night, Indian Army toiled hard and rescued 150 stranded civilians, including 60 women and children, and brought them to safety.

The locals and civil administration were forthcoming in expressing their heartfelt and overwhelming gratitude to the Army for the Service Before Self Motto, as the dedicated efforts resulted in averting disaster and resulted in normalization of the situation.
