GUWAHATI : Tamulpur will host the 4th Asian Kho Kho Championship which will kick off on March 20. Altogether 14 countries from across Asia will participate in the 4-day championship which will be organized by the Assam Kho Kho Association.
It will be the third occasion when India will host the meet.
The president of the Assam Kho Kho Association and the secretary of the organizing committee Rajib Prakash Barua informed The Sentinel that the preparation of the meet, which will be held at the makeshift indoor arena, is in final stage. Participating teams, expected to arrive from March 16, will be accommodated at the various hotels in Guwahati and special buses will be arranged to take them to the venue.”
Altogether 14 teams have confirmed their participation in the tournament which included Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, UAE, Iran, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and host India.”
Talking on the security measures that will be rquired during the meet Barua said: “Under the leadership of the chiarman of Assam Kho Kho Association Pramod Boro, who is also the CEM of BTC, the matter is discussed with the local authority and police administration. We have received full support and cooperation from them.”
