Ace weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu of Indian Railways ranks 2nd in IWF

GUWAHATI: Ace weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu of Indian Railways has been ranked second in the Women 49kg ranking list released by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). Chanu (4133,6172 points) came second behind Chinese Hou Zhihui in the rankings. Besides Mirabai and Hou, there are two more Asian lifters among top eight in women's 49 kg.

Chanu, who will represent India in the forthcoming Olympics in Tokyo, recently made world record in the Asian championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The weightlifter is currently undergoing training in USA and is considered a strong medal prospect for the country in the Olympics.
