All Assam Ranking Badminton tournament: Orijit, Mayuri win titles

GUWAHATI: Orijit Chaliha and Mayuri Barman, both from Guwahati, lifted the men and women singles title in the 5th All Assam Ranking Badminton tournament that concluded at the RG Baruah Sports Complex in the city on Saturday. While Iman Sonowal of Tinsukia finished runners up in men’s singles, Rikshita Chaliha (Guwahati) collected the runners up title in the women singles category.

Meanwhile two shuttlers from Sivasagar and another one from Jorhat bagged double crown winning titles in different age group events. Himanish Sekar Das won titles in boys U-19 singles and doubles (pairing with Animesh Gogoi). Shantipriya Hazarika won singles titles in girls U-17 and U-19 categories. On the other hand Rajdeep Bora of Jorhat clinched doubles title in U-15 boys singles and doubles (pairing with Prangan Choudhury).
