The All India Open FIDE Rated School Chess Tournament got underway at Sarusajai Sports Complex in the city on Tuesday. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Nandita Gorlosa attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest.

GUWAHATI: The All India Open FIDE Rated School Chess Tournament got underway at Sarusajai Sports Complex in the city on Tuesday. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Nandita Gorlosa attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest. The other guests present on this occasion included Mukuta Deka, a key official of GMDA, K Warjari, the Chairman of the Northeast Development Committee and Kandarpa Kalita, the President of the All Assam Chess Association. Altogether 235 players from various parts of the country including Sikkim, Meghalaya, Tripura, West Bengal, and host Assam are taking part in the competition.
