Itanagar: Arunachalee karateka Omuk Aje, who hails from East Siang district, has won silver medal in the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) open league fighting in all India level in Bangalore on Friday.

Earlier Omuk Aje Arunachalee karateka cleared the knock out round, quarter final and semi final rounds at Vododora in Gujarat. He came to Bangalore for final round. He got injured in final round and was admitted in hospital.

By winning silver medal, he had qualified in his weight category for next tournament in Mumbai, which would start next week.

Aling Pinggam, sixth world rank holder in Kick Boxing, was the coach of Omuk. Pinggam trained famous Bollywood actor Aksay Kumar. He is a kickboxing icon of India. Omuk is the first person from Arunachal to win silver medal in MMA open fight. He would participate in Super Fight League at Mumbai if he get medical fitness certificate, a press release informed here on Saturday.
