GUWAHATI: Assam chess player Mrinmoy Rajkhowa bagged 6th position in the 34th National U-12 Open and Girls Chess Championship which was held recently at Mandya in Karnataka. Mrinmoy bagged 8.5 points from 11 rounds and the performance helped him to collect a cash award of Rs 25,000. Another State player Tonmoy Rajbongshi finished 15th and won a cash award of Rs 6,000. Altogether 9 State players participated in the championship. While in the girls section Afsheen Afsha Zaman (7 points) finished at 30th place, Debarati Dey (6 points) ended her campaign at 58th position. In the boys category the other participants were Adish Goswami, Anish Goswami, Hridhant Sharma, Naman Newar and Koshin Das.
