East Zone Junior Athletics meet: Assam achieved top spot held in Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium, Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Assam achieved top spot in the East Zone Junior Athletics meet which concluded at the Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium here today.

Host made good show in the competition and picked up 26 gold, 32 silver and 22 bronze medals which took their points table to 462. Jharkhand (298), Bihar (135) and Tripura (95) finished second, third and fourth spot respectively in the points table.

The closing function of the meet was attended by Queen Oja, MP of Guwahati Constituency, former star athlete Tayabun Nesca, Director of the Sports and Youth Welfare Dharmakanta Mili, Treasurer of the Assam Olympic Association Tapan Das, Vice President of the Assam Athletics Association Ritu Baran Sarmah and others.
