GUWAHATI: Assam made their task difficult to move into the next round in Junior National Women Football Championship losing their second match to Gujarat at Dimakuchi today. Gujarat won the group 'G' match 2-1.

Assam conceded the first goal in the 3rd minute of the game and Maya Rabri scored the goal. However Assam came back strongly and scored the equalizer in the 13 minute through Anjuli Brahma. Gujarat scored the winning goal in the 63rd minute and this time Khushbu Saroi put the ball into the net.

In group 'G' Assam are now in the second spot in the points table with 3 points. Haryana are at the top with six points from two outings. Haryana in the other game of the day at the same venue thrashed Poducherry 5-0. Preety (2), Reena, Kalpna and Nancy scored in the game.

Altogether six matches were scheduled on Thursday and four of them were held at the Sarusajai Sports complex. Sikkim defeated Goa by 2-1. Simran Gurung and Priya Chetry scored for Sikkim and Anshika Gupta reduced one for Goa. Chhattisgarh registered a 3-0 win against Uttar Pradesh. Ripika Korram scored twice in the first half and Bindu Telam increased the margin at the dying stage of the game. In another match Mizoram defeated Karnataka by 2-0. Lalrintluangi and substitute Lalrinawmi scored one goal each in the match. Himachal Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh played to a 1-1 draw and shared the points.
