GUWAHATI: Assam Police Blues defeated Maharana Athletic club by 3-0 in the last match of first leg in GSA Super Division Soccer League match held at the Nehru stadium here today. Blues won the tie by 3-0.

Both the teams were out from the title race before this game but the match was well contested. Maharana conceded three goals in the game. However, they looked very positive and Whenever the side got the opportunities never hesitate to go for a counter-attack.

It was Sanjib Borgohain who put Assam Police Blues ahead in the 21st minutes. He also scored another one in the 56th minutes. Blues got the last goal in injury time and this time Malaram Basumatary headed in.

With this match, the first leg of the league came to an end today. Assam State Electricity Board Sports club (16 points) are qualified for the championship round with maximum points. The other three teams will join ASEBSC are FC Green Valley, Navajyoti Club, and Sunrise AC. Relegation round would be held among the four teams and they are Assam Police Blues, NFRSC, Gauhati Town Club and Maharana AC. The last phase of the meet will kick off with a championship round match tomorrow between ASEBSC and FC Green Valley.
