Bir Chilarai Award presented to four NCC Cadets of Assam

GUWAHATI: The Bir Chilarai Awards for the year 2020-21 were presented to four best NCC Cadets of Assam in a function held at the Conference Hall of Bhogeswari Phukanani Indoor Stadium, in the city recently. Dr M Angamuthu, Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Assam, Sports and Youth Welfare Department, formally handed over the awards to the recipients. Dharma Kanta Mili, Director, Sports and Youth Welfare; Ranuj Borkakoty, Joint Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare Department; Antara Gogoi, Deputy Director, Sports and Youth Welfare and Brig J C Talukdar, Group Commander, NCC Group HQ were also present on the occasion.

The recipients of the awards for this year were Shubham Singh of B Borooah College, Niharika Kashyap of Cotton College State University, Abu Hasmiud Doza of Sainik School Goalpara and Esika Ahmed of Saint Mary's High School, Guwahati.

The State Sports Directorate has been conferring the award every year since 2005-06 and the award comprises of a Medal, Certificate and a cash award of Rs 25,000.
