Bordoloi Trophy Football Championship to kick off on March 11

GUWAHATI: The 67th edition of the Bordoloi Trophy Football Championship will kick off in two venues-Guwahati and Morigaon- from March 11. Gauhati Sports Association will host the event in association with Morigaon Sports Association.

In an interaction with the local media the secretary of the Gauhati Sports Association Dhruba Jyoti Kalita said that altogether eight teams will take part in the meet which included three local outfits ASEBSC, Gauhati Town Club and Assam Police Blues. OILFC will also be the part of this edition of Bordoloi Trophy.

He added: "Guwahati will host the matches of Group 'A' at Judges Field while Morigaon will host the group 'B' matches. Both the semi finals will be held on March 18 (Guwahati) and final is slated for March 20 (Guwahati). ASEBSC will take on Gauhati Town Club in the opening game in Guwahati on March 11 while Assam Police Blues will face Morigaon FC in opener on the same day."

This time champion will earn Rs one lakh as cash award while runners up team will collect a purse of Rs 50,000.

President of the Gauhati Sports Association Munin Nobis and several other officer bearers attended the media briefing which was held at the GSA office.

Group A: ASEBSC, Gauhati Town Club, Dwimalu Club (Udalguri), Eleven Star club (Bongaigaon).

Group 'B': Assam Police Blues, OILFC, Bodousa SC, (Tinsukia) and Morigaon FC.
