Brahmaputra Boys defeated Manas Tigers in a well contested tie by a single wicket in the Assam T20 Challengers Cricket at the Judges’ Field here today. In the other match of the day Subansiri Champs won by 27 runs against Kaziranga Heroes.

GUWAHATI: Brahmaputra Boys defeated Manas Tigers in a well contested tie by a single wicket in the Assam T20 Challengers Cricket at the Judges' Field here today. In the other match of the day Subansiri Champs won by 27 runs against Kaziranga Heroes.

Chasing a small total (100) to win in the first game, Brahmaputra Boys struggled throughout the innings as Amlanjyoti Das (4-13) and Mrinmoy Dutta (3-27) made their job very difficult. However Mukhtar Hussain played a quick 6 balls 14 runs knock and took his side in winning side. Saurav Saha (21) was the other major contributor for the winning outfit.

Earlier Mukhtar (2-22) also contributed with the ball to restrict Manas Tigers 99-7 in their 20 overs.

In the second game Sahil Jain of Subansiri Champs played a spectacular knock of 67 runs which also helped his side to pile up a big total on the board. Subansiri Champs, bat first in the game, scored 146/8 in their 20 overs. Sahil Jain took only 40 balls to score 67 with the help of two boundaries and six sixes. Kunal Saikia (34) also contributed well with the bat. In reply Kaziranga Heroes managed to score 119-6 in their 20 overs. Shekhar Jyoti Barman picked up 3-19 while Kalam Raja (44) was the top scorer for Kaziranga Heroes.

Brief scores: 1st game- Manas Tigers 99/7 (20 overs), Pallav Kumar Das 30, Roshan Basfore 23, Kunal Sarma 2-13, Muktar Hussain 2-22; Brahmaputra Boys 103/9 (16.1 overs), Saurav Saha 21, Amlanjyoti Das 4-13 Mrinmoy Dutta 3-27.

Match 2: Subansiri Champs 146/8 (20 overs), Sahil Jain 67, Kunail Saikia 34, Ranjeet Mali 2-10,Denish Das 2-16, Kaziranga Heroes 119/6 (20 overs), Kalam Raja 44, Denish Das 29, Shekhar Jyoti Barman 3-19, Sidharth Sarmah 2-17.
