Centenary Celebration of Sports Journalism ASJA Unveils Logo, Tagline

The countdown of centenary celebration of Sports Journalism in Assam kicked-off with a logo and tagline 'Assam Sports Journalism @100' unveiling ceremony at the AOA Conference Hall here today. The event was hosted by the Assam Sports Journalists' Association.

It was in July 1923 that the first ever sports news was published in the weekly newspaper called Asomiya. The Assam Sports Journalists' Association (ASJA), the apex sports journalists' body in the State, is going to celebrate the historic occasion with a year-long programme as sports news publication centenary year from July 2, 2022 to July 1, 2023.

The logo and the tagline were ceremonially unveiled by the Secretary of the Assam Olympic Association (AOA) Lakhya Konwar and President of Gauhati Sports Association (GSA) Pulak Goswami. Unveiling the logo, Konwar appealed to all sections of the society to cooperate and patronize the year-long programme. He also assured all support and assistance from the AOA.

Goswami in his address said he appreciated the initiative of the ASJA to commemorate the occasion. He further said that this will give a fillip to the sports journalism sector which in turn will boost the sports atmosphere in the state. A number of sports organisers, sportspersons, journalists and well wishers attended the ceremony which was presided over by ASJA President Subodh Malla Barua.
