SIVASAGAR: The badminton courts of the Chau-Lung Syukapha Indoor Stadium located near Phukan Nagar Kali Mandir in Sivasagar get the facility of synthetic flooring at a cost of approximately 7 lakh. The courts were opened for the shuttlers after a brief function, held in the stadium in presence of distinguished guests, media persons, parents and guardians recently.

Saurav Chaliha, general secretary of Chau-Lung Syukapha Indoor Stadium Management Committee said that this step had been taken with a view to encouraging the budding talents.

Chaliha said there were many talents in the district. “Many a time they are not nurtured and their talents remain hidden. Hence, the Chau-Lung Syukapha Indoor Stadium Management Committee, since its inception, has been trying to extend all sorts of support and facilities to nurture and encourage the sportspersons.” Stating that synthetic flooring has been installed in two nos. of badminton courts at a cost of Rs.7 lakh, Chaliha assured that all required infrastructural facilities will be provided to the sportspersons in the coming days. He also acknowledged thanks to Lakhikanta Mahanta, proprietor of Industrial Art and his son Abhijit Mahanta for extending their helping hand in the installation of the synthetic courts.

Chaliha appealed to the sports-lovers to lend their support to get the stadium all sorts of infrastructural facilities required by the sportspersons so that they can represent the country at the international level.

The management committee also felicitated Subhrasree Smita Baruwati and Bornil Akash Changmai who became champions in the recently concluded PNB Metlife All India Junior Badminton Championship-2019 held at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.

The dignitaries and distinguished guests present on the occasion were Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah, educationist Dipali Chaliha, Lakhikanta Mahanta, Ajimuddin Ahmed, Pabitra Borthakur, Pratap Changkakoti, journalists Anamuddin Ahmed, Khalilur Rahman Hazarika, Sanjib Dey, Manoj Gogoi, Purishuttam Kalita, and others.
