LAKHIMPUR: The final match of the Lakhimpur district level Chief Minister's Tea-Tribe and Adivasi Football Tournament (Under 19, boys) will be held on September 3 at the playground of Dejoo Tea Estate. The tournament has been organized under the auspices of the Directorate of Tea-Tribe and Adivasi Welfare, Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare in association with Lakhimpur district administration and District Sports and Youth Welfare Department.
In the meantime, three football teams representing Dejoo, Chinatolia and Koylamari Tea Estates have already secured eligibility to play semi-final matches in the tournament. As such condition, the organizers, on August 25 in a meeting held in the District Commissioner's office in the presence of the managers and players of the three football teams, decided to take help of lottery to determine the eligibility of any two football teams out of the three to play the final match. As per result of the lottery, Koylamari football team secured 'bye' to advance to the next round of the tournament. So, the single semi-final match of the tournament will be held between Dejoo and Chinatolia football teams on the same day at same place from 10:00 am. On the other hand, the Koylamari football team will play the final match with the winner team of the single semi-final match. The final match will commence from 3:00 pm. Lakhimpur district administration and District Sports and Youth Welfare Department have appealed to the people of the district to enjoy the two football matches to encourage the players.
