Assam CM Announces Rs 50 Lakh For Ulubari Boxing Club

GUWAHATI: The All Assam Inter District Junior and Elite Boxing Championship got under way at the Ulubari Boxing Club here today. The tournament was inaugurated by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Around 450 boxers from various parts of the State are taking part in the tournament that will conclude on July 29.

In a brief speech at the opening ceremony, the Chief Minister announced a financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh to the Ulubari Boxing Club for its renovation. He said, “Boxing is one of the top games in Assam, and Ulubari Boxing Club contributed heavily to promote the game in the State. The club needs support to continue its good work in the coming days.”

The opening ceremony was also attended by Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Nandita Gorlosa, Secretary General of the Boxing Federation of India Hemanta Kalita, and others.
