Dibrugarh University Inter-College Chess Meet Begins At DHSK Commerce College

Dibrugarh: The two-day long Dibrugarh University(D.U)-Inter College Chess Competition, 2019 was inaugurated today at DHSK Commerce College hereby Thaneswar Saikia, an alumnus of the host college and retired Director, Dibrugarh University Sports Board. The inaugural function was chaired by Dr. K. M. Bhagawati, principal of the college, which was graced by Satya Changmai, an Assistant. professor, Centre for Physical Education & Sports, D.U as well as Bipul Chutia and Bipul Das—both representatives from D. U Sports Board.

Earlier, flags of the host college and D. U Sports Board were hoisted by Principal of the college, Dr. K.M. Bhagawati and Satya Changmai, Assistant. Professor , D. U respectively. It was followed by Swahid tarpan offered by Dr. K. M. Bhagawati. Vice-principal cum co-coordinator of the competition Prasanta Das, spoke on the aim and objective of the function, while Luku Morang, HoD, Deptt. Of English offered the vote of thanks.

Altogether 31 competitors including 9 girls, from a total of ten institutions -. JB College, Jorhat College, Sivasagar College, G. S. Lohia College, Dibrugarh University, N.L.B. City College, R.K.B. Law College, Salt Brook Academy, Tinisukia College and the host college have participated in the competition. Two ounds for girls and three rounds for boys were held today while the remaining rounds will decide the final fate of the competitors . Dr. H. C. Mahanta, Registrar, Dibrugarh University is likely to attend award distribution function, to be held on September 21.
