First Inter Police Station Football meet kicks off

MANGALDAI: As per the initiative of Assam Police to revive football among all ranks and to inspire and encourage the 'Men in Khaki' in football in which the Assam Police team had earned a high repute in national level, Darrang Police today ceremonially inaugurated the first Inter Police Station Football Tournament. In the inaugural match, SP office team made their way to the next round beating Shyampur Police Station team by 3-1.

In the second match, Mangaldai Police Station team defeated Sipajhar Police Station team by 1-0. Significantly both the Officer in Charge of Mangaldai and Sipajhar Police Station Inspector Mukut Kakati and Inspector Niranjan Barua played well for their teams.

Darrang Superintendent of Police Raj Mohan Ray in presence of Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ) Rupam Phukan and Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ) Pranjal Bora and a good number of football lovers inaugurated the tournament.
