GUWAHATI: Gurdon Cricket Academy, Nalbari won the TOPCEM-ASJA Inter School/ Coaching Centre U-16 cricket title defeating WE R North East by 4 wickets in the final held at the Nehru Stadium here today. Elected to bat, WE R North East scored 124/8 in 25 overs. Aman Yadav (38) was the top scorer. Gurdon Cricket Academy chased the target in 23 overs losing six wickets. While Ratul Das (38) played a well composed knock but it was not enough for the visiting team as they were once 75-6. However Akash Das( 26) and Akash Kalita (25) made a solid unbroken partnership on the 7th wicket and guided the team to victory adding 53 runs. Ratul was later adjudged man of the final award. The other individual awards were won by Akash Das (Best player of the meet, Gurdon Cricket Academy), Jyotimoy Kalita (Best bowler, Gurdon Cricket Academy), Akash Kalita (Best fielder, Gurdon Cricket Academy) and Mrinmoy Das (Best batter, River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre).
