GUWAHATI: City-based tennis organization India Club will host All India Tennis Association (AITA) Championship Series in its premises from March 27. The competition is open for both boys and girls for U-16 year’s age categories.
The president of India Club and chairman of the organizing committee Bimal Bharali and Diganta Thakur (general secretary) in a joint media briefing said that nearly 60 players from various parts of the country will participate in the 5-day championship. Thakur added: ‘Nearly half of the participating players will be from Assam and the tournament carries valuable AITA ranking points.’
Meanwhile, to organize the event smoothly a committee has been formed with Bimal Bharali as chairman, Diganta Thakur as general secretary and S K Beria as treasurer. The other key members in the committee included: Dipak Kr Das and Gautam Ganguly (Vice- Chairman), Arnab Kr Sarma (Tournament Director), Kaushik Talukdar (organizing secretary), Gaurav Chowdhury and Anshuman Das (Media Covenor) and Priyanuz Dutta Lahkar (Chief- Referee).
