India have an edge over New Zealand: Rajesh Borah

GUWAHATI: India will take on New Zealand in the WTC final from June 18 at Rose Bowl Stadium, Southampton in England. In a conversation with The Sentinel the former first class cricketer Rajesh Borah said that the final will be a good contest to watch. He also added, job is very difficult this time but still India will have a little edge over New Zealand in the final. Here is the excerpt.

The Sentinel (TS): A good contest to watch…

Rajesh: I feel so. I am eagerly waiting to see the final between India and New Zealand.

TS: Who is your favourtie?

Rajesh: It is a tough contest and winning the tie would be a very challenging one for both the teams. As an opponent you can't underestimate New Zealand. They are on the good side. But still I feel India will have an edge over New Zealand at Rose Bowl.

TS: India landed in England without any match practice !

Rajesh: It's not a matter at all. All the cricketers are seasoned players and they are capable of accustomed to any situation quickly. Just wait. Once the team start the net session in England they will get back the rhythm within a short period of time and will be fully ready for the contest.

TS: Perhaps pace bowlers will be the trump cards for both the captains…

Rajesh: I agree. During this part of time the ball swings a lot in England. Rose Bowl Stadium, the venue of the WTC final, mostly helps pace bowlers. If we go through the earlier records we will witness that fast bowlers here get tremendous swing which makes it very difficult for top-order batsmen as the new ball moves a lot. Both the teams have good swing bowlers and it is why I have earlier said that the contest will be a good one to watch.

TS: Do you feel the side which will bat well has a better chance?

Rajesh: Yes. Weather in England changes in a minute. Only technically sound batsmen can tackle this type of situation and I feel India is a little ahead then their opponent in this area because India look a superior batting side.
