Khelo India silver medal winner Kamdon Boi gets warm reception

Itanagar: Sports lovers of Tirap district, as well wishers and relatives on Wednesday, accorded warm reception to Khelo-India silver medal winner in Judo, Kamdon Boi.

Son of Photum Boi, a resident of Turet village under Deomali administrative circle, Kamdon won the medal in January on 20 last.

Speaking on the occasion, Kamdon praised his Judo master Yum Pangkhu for encouraging him from day one.

Pangkhu, who is also the judo coach and president of Tirap District Judo Association, congratulated Kamdon for bringing laurels to the district as well as the State.

Kamdon won the medal in 66kg weight category U-21 in the Khelo-India-Khelo Youth Games held at Guwahati.

Pangkhu further appealed to the youths of the district to shun bad habits like drugs and alcohol and instead concentrate on games and sports and studies to become good citizen of the country.

He added that Kamdon has set an exemplary in the field of games and sports which need to inspire the youths of the district.

Earlier, the Chief of Turet village Wanghing Songthing felicitated Kamdon with a bouquet, an official release informed here on Wednesday.
