GUWAHATI : Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI) is impressed with the preparation of the forthcoming 4th Asian Kho Kho championship which is scheduled to be held at Tamulpur from March 20.

KKFI president Sudhanshu Mittal visited the venue today with KKFI general secretary MS Tyagi, BTR Chief Pramod Boro and Assam Kho Kho Association (AKKA) president Rajib Prakash Baruah.

Later talking to the media person, Mittal said, “Tamulpur can set an example that rural India too hosts international events. It’s a matter of pride for all of us that Tamulpur is hosting this event with the participation of more than 10 Asian nations. This is an example that international events can be held outside metros.”

So far, more than 10 countries have confirmed their participation in this event. The list of participating countries included– Bangladesh, Bhutan, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka and the host India.

Speaking further on Kho Kho, Mittal who is also the president of the world kho kho body said this traditional Indian sport needs to be made global. He also added: “World Kho Kho Championship will be held in July in London with the participation of 36 countries from across the globe.”

BTR Chief Pramod Boro who is also the chairman of AKKA thanked the Kho Kho Federation of India for giving the opportunity to host the mega event in BTR. “This international event will be a mark towards the progress and prosperity of BTR,” said Boro.
