Lakhimpur Challenge Night Football Tournament kicks off

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur Challenge Night Football Tournament- 023 kicked off on Monday night. The tournament has been organized by Lakhimpur District Sports Association in collaboration with Nakari Club, coinciding with the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the reputed club of Lakhimpur district this year.

The matches of the tournament have been held at North Lakhimpur Government HS School playground and various renowned football teams of the North Eastern Region, like Classic Football Academy, Manipur, Assam Police, Guwahati, NESU Football Club, Manipur, Imphal United Football Club, Manipur, Sankata Football Club, Darjeeling, ASEB Sports Club, Guwahati, Karsang Football Club, Majuli including several football teams of the State have participated in the tournament.

Kabirali Aadivasi Football Club defeated Hatilung Football Coaching Centre by 3-2 in the opening match. Anthony Islary scored in 16th and 32nd minutes while Lakhi Murmu netted another one in 52nd minute for the winning side. Pranab Bhorali and Apurbajyoti scored for Hatilung Football Coaching Centre in 42nd and 66th minutes of the match.

The final match will be held on December 3. The winner will receive prize money of Rs. 1,00,000 along with a trophy while the runner-up team will bag prize money of Rs. 50,000.
