Lakhimpur participants shine in 3rd North East Pencak Silat Championship, 2020

LAKHIMPUR: A total of twelve participants from Lakhimpur have brought laurels to the district by bagging gold, silver and bronze medals in 3rd North East Pencak Silat Championship, 2020. The event was organized at Swahid Maidam, Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district from February 1 to 3.

Out of the medal achievers, Tariz Hussain (10-12 years, below 40 kg) Barnil Dutta (10-12 years, below 60 kg), Bidisha Gurung (10-12 years, below 35 kg), Bishmita Sharma (10-12 years, below 40 kg), Pompy Deuri, (above 18 years, below 53 kg) bagged gold medal in their respective events while Mriganka Deka (10-12 years, below 40 kg) secured silver medal. Bronze medal winners are Arnav Saikia (5-10 years, below 30 kg), Dibyajyoti Nath, (5-10years, below 20 kg), Raihan Ahmed (10-12 years, below 50 kg), Dimpal Uja (14-17 years, below 35 kg), Mamta Sonowal above 18 years, below 53 kg) and Nikhamoni Doley (10-12 years, below 34 kg). Rabijit Rajkumar took part in the event as manger of the players’ team while Bishal Prashad and Mehnaz Akhtar as team coaches.
