Lakhimpur Shine in Arm-Wrestling Meet

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district team managed to register excellent performance in the 44th All Assam Arm-Wrestling Competition which was organized at the DTRP Indoor Stadium in Guwahati on March 27. Over 150 players from different districts of the State participated in the championship.

Founder of the Lakhimpur Arm Pullers' Club Kanan Burhagohain and its present secretary Subhajit Lahan informed through a press release that the Lakhimpur district team which was comprised of the members from the Club, won a total of 10 medals in various weight categories.

The players of Lakhimpur district bagging the 1st position in the competition are— Kanan Borgohain (110 kg), Bhaskar Boruah(75kg), Nilay Sankar(60kg) and Sanskita Borah(60kg). On the other hand, Subhajit Lahon(110Kg), Sanjay Hazarika (70kg), Titu Bhàgawati (110kg+) secured 2nd position while Abed Hazarika(90kg), Bitupon Gogoi(75kg) and Washiq Khan(70kg) secured the 3rd position. All these winners are selected for upcoming 44th National Arm-Wrestling Championship to be held in Hyderabad on May 31. Prize of cash Rs. 62,000 is rewarded to these medal holders in the selection trial for the National Championship.
