GUWAHATI: Mridul Borgohain of Assam won the men’s singles gold as host Assam continued to dominate in the 7th National and 3rd Under-25 Lawn Bowls Championship winning four more gold on the penultimate day at Sarusajai Sports Complex Green in Guwahati on Wednesday. Borgohain defeated Sunil Bahadur of Jharkhand in the final for the coveted title. Earlier on Sunday, Tania Choudhury of Assam bagged the women’s singles title getting the better of Bhanu Bordoloi of Manipur. Assam bagged gold in women’s pairs and triples and boys’ under-25 singles on Wednesday to take Assam tally to six gold and four silver.
The gold winner Assam women’s pairs team comprised Nayanmoni Saikia and Bongita Hazarika, while the members of the champion women’s triples Tania Choudhury, Ananya Saikia and Amiya Gogoi. Assam also bagged the gold in boys’ under-25 singles by Bitupan Rabha topping the league table remaining unbeaten throughout the championship. Anwesha Bora had to contend with the silver in girls’ under-25 singles.
