Book on Olympic medalist released

GUWAHATI: Olympic medalist boxer Lovlina Borgohain today said that next year is going to be a very important one for her career as several top level international meets is scheduled to be held in 2022.
Lovlina today attended a function in the city where a book on her-Khelratna Lovlina (Baromukhiya to Tokyo)-was released. Addressing the gathering the boxer said, "My ultimate goal is a gold medal from Olympic. However before that I have to participate in several top level international meets including Asian Games and Common Wealth Games which are scheduled to be held next year. Right now I have kept myself busy in training and want to finish on podiums in those events. It will boost my confidence level further."
In her speech she also said that Assam need more coaches in various disciplines. "We are lagging behind in this area. If we can train our coaches and use them in various discipline the result will be much better as we have talents in every disciplines."
The book Khelratna Lovlina (Baromukhiya to Tokyo) was written by Devajit Phukan. The book carries in depth information of Lovlina from her early days to Olympic medal was released by senior journalist Nitumoni Saikia. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Bimal Borah attended the function as the chief guest. Several senior journalists including Pranoy Bordoloi, Subodh Malla Barua, Adip Phukan, Pranjit Saikia, Kula Pradip Bhagawati along with MLA Biswajit Phukan, secretary of Axom Xahitya Xabha Yadav Sarma, AOA secretary Lakhya Konwar, ACA vice president Parikhit Dutta and parents of Lovlina were also present in the function.
