Nihad Islam Hazarika clinches rapid Chess Tournament title

GUWAHATI: Nihad Islam Hazarika won the Sunday Rapid Chess Tournament title which was organized by Guwahati Chess Academy in the city today. Nihad scored 5.5 points from 6 rounds and was unbeaten throughout the tournament. In the final rounds he beat Abhirup Saikia. Prangobinda Parashar Kashyap got second position by scoring 5 points. Bharsita Saharia also scored 5 points but she was declared third on the basis of tie-break score.

Chaarvi Choudhury scored 4 points and got first position in under-13 category. Shuvang Pran Kashyap also scored 4 points but he was declared second on the basis of tie-break score. Kritarth Saikia finished third with three points. In under-11 category Sahaj Gupta got first Position with 4 points. Nibhriti Goswami and Jagajit Sinha finished second and third respectively. In under 9 category Rajat Bafna, with 4.5 points, emerged champion. Krishnav Mrinmoy Hazarika and Neehar Das got second and third position respectively.

Prachurjya Changmai, Dhanyata Goswami and Dhirhan Goswami finished first, second and third in under-7 category. Altogether 38 players took part in this 6 rounds tournament and top five players were awarded cash prizes and trophies.
