GUWAHATI: The final of the Nuruddin Senior Inter district Cricket tournament will begin at the ACA Stadium, Barsapara from tomorrow. Silchar will face Biswanath Chariali in the four-day title clash.
It is the fourth occasion when Silchar will appear in the final of the competition. Earlier they won the title once and finished runners up on two occasions. On the other hand for Biswanath Chariali, it will be their maiden appearance in the final. Both the sides played good cricket throughout the tournament on way to reach the final. While Silchar in the semi final defeated Tezpur by virtue of the first innings lead Biswanath Chariali upset Dibrugarh by 15 runs in the other semi finals. Batting of both the sides may not be upto the mark but bowlers really did well in the competition. Left arm spinner of Silchar Rahul Singh is in good touch and collected 19 wickets in his last two games. On the eve of the final Rahul today told The Sentinel that he would try his best to perform in the final and give Silchar the cup. "Our team is in good shape and is ready to fight unitedly."
Commenting on his individual performance in the competition, Rahul, who already represented Assam, said, " I am just trying to maintain a good line and length in every match. I will focus on that area in the final also."
At the same time he added that the pitch at the ACA Stadium, Barsapara was likely to assist the batsman.
