Pony Shiv Shankar wins Governor’s Cup

JORHAT: Pony-Shiv Shankar & Jockey Horen Tai lifted the Governor’s Cup during the 139th Jorhat Races at the Gymkhana Club ground here today. The Runners Up trophy was lifted by Pony-Lal Bahadur & Jockey-Hiteshwar Baruah.

Pony Natun Puwali and Jockey Shantiram Doley bagged the Punjab Engineering Company Purse, while Runners up won Pony-Girishman and Jockey Papu Pegu.

B&A Purse was lifted by Pony-Kankan and Jockey Bhaiti Tai and Runners Up trophy was lifted by pony – Manju and Jockey Khin Biren.

Moran Tea Purse was lifted by Pony-Dehajani and Jockey-Tilak Bora, Runners Up winner was Pony-Jaan and Jockey- Niranjan Pegu.

Bokahulla Tea Purse was lifted by Pony-Rijit and Jockey-Manu Tai while Pony-Shiva and Jockey Bikash Tai won the runner up trophy. All four Purses were handed over to the winners by JPS Bhamra, Major General Balraj Mehta and Tea Board of India Chairman Prabhat Bezbaruah.

Kumar Sanjay Krishna, the additional Chief Secretary, Government of Assam, who attended as the chief guest on behalf of Governor of Assam. Prof Jagdish Mukhi, gave away the trophy to the champion. Major General Balraj Mehta, who attended as the Guest of Honour on the final day, handed over the runner up trophy.
