GUWAHATI: In an exciting day of cricket Pratidin Time shocked the title contender Prag News by 17 runs and stormed into the semifinals while Asomiya Pratidin registered one run win over Gana Adhikar in the 2nd North East Media T20 tournament at Judges Field.
In the last match of group A, which became a quarter-final, Pratidin Time successfully defended 119 runs by bundled out the strong opponent at just 102 in the penultimate over. Off-spinner TonmoyDey grabbed 6 wickets for 8 in 4 overs, including a hat-trick, destroyed PragNews' batting order after a promising start by their openers. Earlier, Pratidin managed 119 in allotted 20 overs losing 8 wickets with the help of NasirRehman's 57 and Tonmoy's 23. Amit Das and Rajiv Dhar claimed 3 wickets each.
In the first match of the day, invited to bat first, AsomiyaPratidin scored 157 in 20 overs losing 6 wickets. Tauhid Ali Talukdar remained unbeaten at 48 while ParthivHazarika added 32. HimangshuAnupam took 3 wickets for 29. GanaAdhikar started well but failed to score 16 runs in last 4 overs. SouravNath's brilliant 74-run knock went in vain as they finished with 156 for 7. Man of the Match ParthivHazarika was pick of the bowlers as he returned with figures of 4/30 in his four overs.
There is no match on Friday. GanaAdhikar will face ND24 while DDK will take on Barak Valley PC on Saturday.
