GUWAHATI: A five-wicket haul from pacer Pritam Das guided Assam to 70 runs victory over Nagaland in the Vijay Hazare Cricket tournament at Dehradun today. With this victory Assam collected four crucial points from the match.

Chasing 208 runs to victory Nagaland bowled out 137 in 41.4 overs thanks to a nice spell from Pritam Das. The pacer, who came as first change bowler, bowled 8.4 overs in the game and picked up 5-22. Except R Jonathan (46) and Y Takawale (21) no other batsmen of Nagaland were able to contribute good score on the board.

Earlier Invited to bat, Assam made good start as both the openers-Sarupam Purkayastha (23) and Rahul Hazarika (29) added 51 runs in 10.5 overs. Thereafter the middle order batsmen-Sibsankar (16), Gokul (15), Riyan (18), Amit Sinha (25) and Hrishikesh Tamuly (0) didn’t able stay long on the wicket. However Abu Nechim Ahmed (31), the highest scorer in the innings, and Roshan Alam (28) gave good fight and they added 52 runs on the 8th wicket partnership which made the total respectable. Nagaland bowler Nagaho bagged 5-25 in the innings.
