GUWAHATI: Only four-day left to kick off the Junior U-17 Women National Football tournament and the teams have started to arrive in the city. However, huge rainfall put Assam Football Association in an unpleasant situation as they are facing big trouble to prepare the ground for the forthcoming mega competition.

Guwahati has been experiencing rainfall for the last several days and it became huge from Monday night which resulted in waterlogging in various parts of the city. Different venues of the competition also suffered due to rain and the Nehru stadium, one of the venues, even partly submerged in the morning. As the Indian Meteorological Department forecast more rain during the next couple of days, the situation can turn worse.

The treasurer of the Assam Football Association Hiren Gogoi admitted that the rain has created big problems in the preparation of the competition. Talking to The Sentinel Gogoi said, "We are trying our best to deliver the best grounds for play to the participating teams. But yes, if rain continues it will create a lot of problems for us. Still four days left before the tournament kicks off and we are hopeful that the weather will be much better than now within the next couple of days."

Gogoi added that Bihar will be the first team to arrive in the city and they are expecting to reach here tonight.
