Sexual harassment allegation against swimming coach Mrinal Basumatary

GUWAHATI: A serious allegation of sexual harassment was raised against a swimming coach and in-charge of STC Solalgaon, Sports Authority of India (SAI), Mrinal Basumatary. The allegation was raised by some young athletes of SAI, STC Solalgaon who are now at the Sports Authority of India Regional Centre Complex in Guwahati to attend a selection trial.

The Executive Director of the SAI Regional Centre, Guwahati, Satyajit Sankrit, said in a release that taking into account the gravity of the matter a police complaint was lodged immediately at the Paltan Bazar Police Station to register an FIR against Basumatary. He also added that the matter had been referred to the internal Committee of Regional Centre, Guwahati which had already started the proceedings and would submit its report at the earliest.
