GUWAHATI: South Point School emerged champion in the first Pulin Das Memorial Inter-School Cricket Championship, organized by Guwahati Sports Association, defeating Nichols Higher Secondary School by 91 runs in the final here on Saturday.

Winning the toss batting first, South Point scored mammoth 210 in stipulated 25 overs losing 6 wickets with the help of Arnab Bora’s 53-run innings. Wasim Sahil Saikia and Hriday Raj Choudhury contributed 45 and 41 respectively. Imsu Yonger Ao took 2 wickets for 44. In reply, Nichols HS School’s innings was restricted at just 119 in allotted overs losing 9 wickets. Rangjyoti Kharghoria claimed 4 wickets for 26 while Arnab Bora took 3 wickets for 6 runs.

Arnab was picked as the best player of the final and best players of the tournament. Rangjyoti Kharghoria and Bibek Saha received the Best Bowler and Best Batsman awards respectively.

In the closing ceremony Devajit Saikia, Secretary of ACA, Munin Nobis, President of GSA, Bablu Choudhury, Cricket Secretary of GSA, Promod Rajbongshi, Assistant Cricket Secretary of GSA, Kalyan Das, President of GLTA and former Ranji cricketer Vinod Sharma were present and gave away the prizes.
