KOKRAJHAR: Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTR Pramod Boro on said that at least five sports academies are going to be established in BTR next year to explore sporting talents in various discipline and a good stadium would be set up in Kokrajhar to host major trophies within six months for which the DPR have been prepared.
Talking to reporters at SAI Special Area Games Centre, Kokrajhar where the 76th Hero Santosh trophy, Group-III is being hosted by government of BTR, Boro said there was huge potentialities to hunt sporting talents in various discipline in the council but there is lack of infrastructures and academic facilities.
"We have prepared a road map to develop sports in every discipline to tab the talents for which we are looking for establishing at least five sports academy next year", he said adding that the Reliance Oil GAD also decided to establish a sports academy in BTR from their own to facilitate education on sports. He said observing the huge potentialities of sporting talents of BTC, various private investors were interested to establish sports academy and many private parties are likely to come up with the same mission in the days to come.
He also said a world class Sports University would be set up in Udalguri very soon and DPR in this regard gas been submitted to the government of India.
Boro said, Kokrajhar was the epicenter of football and almost in every reputed club of the state there will be players from Kokrajhar. He also said there were many national and international football players in the district despite there is lack of infrastructure facilities. He said, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma GAD assured before the huge public gathering on UPPL's convention in Kokrajhar recently that a stadium at far with the Sarusajai stadium of Guwahati would be set up within six months at a cost of Rs. 150 crore at Kokrajhar. He further said the DPR has been prepared and sent.
