State team for Santosh Trophy Football tournament named

GUWAHATI: Assam Football Association announced its squad for the forthcoming Santosh Trophy Football tournament which will be held at Kokrajhar from December 28. The team, comprising 22 players, will be coached by Vikrant Sharma.

Assam are placed in cluster III along with Arunachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Nagaland and Goa. The hosts will start their campaign on the opening day against Goa.

Squad: Arup Baruah, Birkhang Daimary, Megraj Basumatary, Didwm Hazowary, Sudem Wary, Tupu Brahma, Gopal Rabha, Maneswar Musahary, Hiteswar hazowary, Danswrang Basumatary, Urjay Brahma, Jangmilen Kuki, Timothy Narzary, Situ Basumatary, Tridev Boro, Milan Basumatary, Akrang Narzary, Arjun Mardi, Joydeep Gogoi, Jigyesh Deka, Nicodin Narzary and Jwngbla Brahma.Head coach: Vikrant Sharma. Assistant coach: Daimalu Basumatary and Lochan Saikia (goalkeeper). Manager: Pradip Kumar Dey.

Kokrajhar Correspondent adds: Hectic preparations are on for successful holding of 76th Santosh Trophy, 2022-23 Group- III matches at Kokrajhar. A review meeting of the reception committee was held at SAI SAG Centre, Kokrajhar on Sunday. The chairman of the committee and EM of Sports and Youth Welfare, BTC Daobaisa Boro informed the media that Kokrajhar was all prepared for successful holding of the competition. Altogether 15 matches would be played at two different venues- SAI SAG Centre, Kathalguri and KDSA playground. Both the grounds were ready for the meet.
