U-14 Subroto Cup: Assam to Start Campaign vs Kerala Today

GUWAHATI: Assam to play their first game in the U-14 Subroto Cup soccer championship tomorrow against Kerala. The other teams in Assam’s group are host Delhi, Indian Public School Conference (IPSC) and Sainik school. The side will face Delhi in their second game on August 22.

This year Subroto Cup, which got underway today, is celebrating Diamond jubilee year. The edition will see a record 112 teams, including 16 international teams competing in three categories Boys U-14, U-17 and Girls U-17.

In the girl’s category Assam are placed with West Bengal, Tripura and Maharashtra. Maharashtra will be the first opponent for Assam and the match will be held on August 30.

Meanwhile Assam are grouped with IPSC, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bihar, Lakshadweep and CBSE in the Boys U-17 category. IPSC will be the first opponent for Assam in this category and the match is slated for September 7. This year champion in U-14 category will receive Rs three lakh while cash award for both U-17 boys and girls teams are Rs 4 lakh each.
