KOKRAJHAR: The United Chirang Duar Football Club got an opportunity to play the I League as the club has qualified for the league. The United Chirang Duar FC will be the 1st team to represent Bodoland region in I-League.
Talking to reporters at CHD office of Sports and Youth Welfare department, BTC on Tuesday, the executive director of United Chirang Duar FC Jaikhlong Brahma said that their football club had qualified to participate in the 4th tier of national level football league-I-League, 3rd division. It will be held at Vadodara in Gujarat from November 11 to 19. He said that they had prepared for the I-League with their best capacity to win. He also said that the players of the club had been working hard to participate in the national level league.
The Secretary of Assam Football Association (AFA) Dr. Sangrang Brahma said that the United Chirang Duar FC would be the first team from Bodoland to play in I-League. He added, Bodoland region had many brilliant players in football but lacked proper infrastructures to tab the talents. He hoped that the players of the club will be able to show its might and brilliant performance in the I-League.
Sources said the head coach Vikrant Sharma and assistant coach Daimalu Basumatary will lead the team Chirang Duar to Vadodara. The team will leave Kokrajhar for Vadodara on Wednesday.
