Guwahati: As many as three frontliners -- two doctors and a nurse at Manipur's Bishnupur district hospital -- have tested positive for the dreaded Covid-19, the state health department confirmed on Monday.
According to the Manipur health department, as per protocol, the frontliners were staying in an isolation ward of the hospital after 7 consecutive days of Covid-19 duty. The health department has affirmed that "special attention" is now being given to the frontliners as per protocols prescribed by the Government. It may be recalled here that on June 4, a nurse from Churachandpur district was also infected in the line of duty.
Amid the stranded citizens, the number of Covid-19 positive cases in Manipur climbed to 841 on Sunday as 64 more persons, 35 males, and 29 females, tested positive for the respiratory illness. Of the total confirmed cases, 591 are active cases while 250 patients have recovered from the infection till Sunday.
It needs mention here that India has over 4.25 lakh coronavirus cases, recording the biggest single-day jump of 445 deaths. The rise in cases has taken the country's tally to 4,25,282 while the death count rose to 13,699, according to the Union Health Ministry data this morning. 14,821 fresh cases were reported in the last 24 hours. However, there has been a steady improvement in the recovery rate with 55.77 percent of the Covid-19 patients having recovered so far.
