Bomb blast at RIMS hospital, Imphal, 2 injured

Imphal: A bomb blast took place at the main gate of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, the premiere medical institute of Manipur. A couple, who came to the hospital were injured by the blast at the main gate of RIMS on Monday. The blast took place amid the celebrations of Manipuri festival, Ningol Chakouba.

Themthing Ngashangva, the Deputy General of Police criticised the act of targeting innocent people. The blast occurred around 9.30 AM on Monday. The blast took place in front of the main gate of RIMS, towards north Lamphelpat.

The injured couple has been identified as Papao Guite and his wife, Hoipi Guite. The former injured his right middle finger and his right leg, while the latter suffered an injury in her right hand and leg.

Both of them were taken to RIMS Hospital, and are currently undergoing treatment. A relative of the injured couple condemned the act of the miscreants on targetting the innocent people and said that they should clarify the reason behind their action. The couple came to the hospital with their mother for her check-up.

The doctors have told that the injured couple had minor injuries and safe now.

The police suspected the bomb to be an improvised explosive device (IED).
