Central government approves the construction of Rs 80 crore Mega Food Park in Manipur

Guwahati: In rather good news for the state of Manipur and its people, the Union government has given nod for a whopping project in the state. As stated by Union Minister of state for food processing industries Rameswar Teli, a mega food park worth Rs. 80 crore has been granted to be constructed in Manipur.

The announcement on the mega food park was made on Thursday during the Union minister’s visit to Imphal. The minister was in the state to address a one-day workshop on Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana. He let the media know that the state government of Manipur had made the proposal on the food park and has been approved by the central government.

Rameswar Teli stated that as a subsidy, the Manipur government will initially receive Rs 50 crore for the food park. He also took to encourage the entrepreneurs to send their proposals to the government to avail more and more funds for their projects. He added that there is dearth of fund in his ministry and hence, the entrepreneurs must send their proposals to the government.

The workshop was also attended by Manipur State commerce and industries minister Th Bishwajit and was seen urging the entrepreneurs to take advantage of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana. He encouraged the entrepreneurs to also try to concentrate on activities in the hill areas in addition to the valley areas.

Bishwajit stated, “Entrepreneurs should not limit themselves to the valley districts, but spread their units to hills districts so that they can provide employment to the locals as well as build up the sense of national integration.”

In addition to announcing the good news, the people gathered for the workshop also maintained a one-minute silence expressing condolence and respect to the departed soul of Sushma Swaraj, the former External Affairs minister.
