NEW DELHI: Ace boxer Mary Kom attended breakfast hosted by President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 18.
She had returned on March 13 after attending the Asia-Oceania Olympic qualifiers in Amman, Jordan.
Mary Kom has, also admitted that she attended the President's event. In a statement, she said: "I am home since I came back from Jordan. I only attended the President's event and did not meet Dushyant or shake hands with. My quarantine after Jordan ends but I'm going to be at home only for the next 3-4 days."
Boxing coach Santiago Nieva added, “10 days we had planned but now it becomes 14 days. So after 10 days I am working on a training programme which I will send them. After this period they can start on that. If this is not solved within two weeks then we will have to continue like this as best as we can.”
Foreign returnees are expected to quarantine themselves for 14 days post their return. Recent reports of how people have been violating this have caused paic among people.
Singer Kanika Kapoor who tested positive for coronavirus after returning from the UK has been slammed by many for hiding her travel history.
Kapoor in her post said that she had returned from the UK and she was scanned at the airport.
“I was scanned at the airport as per normal procedure 10days ago when I came back home, the symptoms have developed only 4 days ago,” she said.
Four persons have succumbed to the dreaded virus so far — one each in Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka, and Punjab. Government of India has informed that no scheduled international commercial passenger aircraft shall be allowed to land in India from March 22, 2020 for one week.
Additionally, State Governments shall issue appropriate directions so that all citizens above 65 (other than for medical assistance) except for public representatives/govt. servants/medical professionals are advised to remain at home, according to a press release.
Railways and civil aviation shall suspend all concessional travel except for students, patients and divyang category.
States are being requested to enforce work for home for Private Sector employees except those working in emergency/essential service
To reduce crowding, all Group B and C Central Government employees will be asked to attend offices on alternate week and staggered timings for all employees.
All existing visas, except diplomatic, official, UN/International Organizations, employment, project visas, stand suspended till 15th April 2020. This will come into effect from 1200 GMT on 13th March 2020 at the port of departure, informed the Ministry of Health.
