Final leg of Northeast folk music at Ukhrul held

UKHRUL: NEZCC (North East Zone Cultural Centre) Director Jitul Sonowal inaugurated the fourth and the final leg of 'Rhythms & Aromas of Northeast' at the Town Hall here in Manipur on Friday.

Altogether six music bands from Manipur and Sikkim performed during the auditions to get selected and further perform at the fourth Guwahati International Music Festival-2020.

Speaking after the inauguration today, Jitul Sonowal said, “I am honoured to be here.

I am very happy that Eastern Beats Music Society organised this event in such a big manner. I am myself a singer and this kind of musical shows is very familiar to me.

Manipur is a beautiful place; and the mandate of NEZCC is also there to promote the folk musicians of the entire region.”

Jitul Sonowal also sang his famous song ‘Moromi Logori’ to a thunderous applause. Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner Joseph Pauline Kamson was also present during the event, stated a release. The bands that competed on the occasion are Salt and Light Travelling Band, Echoes of Mercy Band, Oking Band and the Antic Molecule Band from Manipur and Granite Yard Band and solo artist Ridgex from Sikkim. The selected artistes will undergo intensive mentorship by industry experts and a chance to perform with music legends of Asia.
