Insurgent arrested, arms and ammunition recovered in Imphal

IMPHAL: Security Forces in a joint operation with Police apprehended a hardcore insurgent of proscribed insurgent group on December 17 near Yaralpat area, Imphal East.

Based on specific inputs, security forces along with police launched an operation and apprehended a self-styled captain, who is the area commander of Imphal East of proscribed group UNLF. Recovery included two AK-56 rifles, one 9mm pistol, one point 38 pistol, 143 rounds of AK-56, 10 rounds of 9mm pistol and nine rounds of .38 pistol. In addition, bomb making materials consisting of three electronic circuits, two dry cell batteries, one remote control device and a four-meter-long wire were also recovered. The apprehended insurgent along with the recovered items was handed over to Porompat Police Station for further investigation, stated a release.
